Kodey Hughes

Juab School District
SUPERINTENDENT
Dr. Hughes has three children and a wonderful wife, Jodie, who is also an educator. He is currently serving as the Superintendent of Schools for the Juab School District. Hughes briefly taught band in Las Vegas for one year and then Gunnison High School for three years, where he grew that program from 12 students to over 65. He served the students and community of the Tintic School District for 14 years as the band director, where he toured in and outside of the state with his music groups performing and creating experiences and opportunities for students.

In addition to teaching and coaching wrestling, Dr. Hughes has served as the principal at Eureka Elementary School, West Desert High School, and Tintic High School. He has spent over 17 years as a band director, five years as a building Principal, and 12 years as a District Superintendent for Tintic (10 years) and Juab School Districts (2 years). He graduated from Southern Utah University with a Bachelors in Music Education in 2002, his Masters in Educational Leadership in 2009, and earned a Doctoral Degree from Northcentral University in 2019.

Dr. Hughes was a musician and wrestler in high school and college and attributed those activities to much of his life’s success. “It was the impact of teachers, administrators, and coaches that kept me on a pass of success.” He has an unwavering belief that if we want the best efforts from the students, we must give our best efforts to them in everything we do. His work as an educational leader is seated in the belief that all students can learn and succeed if we provide them with an open, engaging, and steadfast learning environment. Dr. Hughes believes in honest “face to face” communication with students, parents, staff, and stakeholders and affirms that teaching is one of the essential occupations in terms of the future success of our society. His work is focused on community and fulfilling the mission of empowering students to discover and pursue their dreams by providing flexible, personalized, and blended learning pathways for each student.
