What other session at URSA will get you closer to renewing your educator license? Since one of the requirements for renewing your educator license in Utah is completing Utah’s Student Data Privacy course in Canvas, we are offering this session where you can bring your own device and work through the course with USBE’s Student Data Privacy team on hand to help out and answer any questions you might have! Even if you are not renewing your license, the course if publicly available, so all participants will be able to access the materials and learn from it. Specifically you will learn the following:
 
* What federal and state student privacy law says about when a school may share data (especially ed tech apps or websites)
* What rights parents have toward their student’s data
* Restrictions on collecting sensitive information from students
* Steps you can take to keep data secure
 
Participants will also be able to provide feedback on the course, which will allow us to keep it timely, useable, and relevant for teachers around the state.
