Hispanic Americans have played an important role throughout American history. Teaching about our contributions is a part of better understanding our history and also represents a fantastic opportunity to better engage our Hispanic students today. By seeing the impact that people who share their origins have had it makes American history feel more relevant. It helps us feel like we belong. In this presentation we will discuss the role Hispanics played during the events of the American Revolution. Examples of events and names will be shared as well as ideas on how they can be integrated into our U.S. History classrooms. It is hoped that this presentation can serve as an example of similar steps that can be taken with other events.
